The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay can be a difficult task but also a fantastic, exclusive path and a smart way for stressed city workers to let off steam whilst earning money for a good cause. Each and every runner in the crew runs round the mile course as fast as possible just before giving the baton to their team mate. Each year the winning team receives a cheque for £5000 to give to a Bloomberg supported charity of their choice. This list includes nonprofits such as the American Foundation for AIDS Research, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the New UNICEF and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

The particular headline benefactor is Bloomberg along with recognized health club partner Virgin Active, modern technology partner Epson, official media partner Sport, official retail partner Sportsdirect.com and official sports wear supplier Karrimor.

The track starts and finishes in Guildhall Yard, the runners set out along Gresham Street, turn right all the way down Noble Street, right again down London Wall, right past Royex House and keep to the road round to Love Lane till they are back on Gresham Street when they turn left back to Guildhall Yard.

Each year many organisations submit teams and in 2014 SenseCore AG were successful with a time period of 54:39 minutes. 5 further groups made it to the finish in under an hour: JP Morgan, Barclays, Slaughter and May, Bank of America and Legal & General.

Among the many additional squads that took part were Pinsent Masons, Rothschild, CBRE, Santander Asset Management and Anacap Financial Partners.

The competition is also right now held in Singapore and Hong Kong in addition to London. In Hong Kong a year ago a thousand athletes from top corporations took to the streets of Central Hong Kong for the first Bloomberg Square Mile Relay. Underneath the city’s iconic skyscrapers, runners made their own way around sharp turns and staircases along with their baton to perform their mile inside the quickest feasible time. Team Macquarie Bank won and donated their winnings of HK$80,000 to Sunshine Action, their decided on charitable organization. Credit Suisse and Black Rock came in 2nd and 3rd place correspondingly, with Bank of America Merill Lynch's Sam Fletcher clinching the award for fastest individual with a time of 04:38 minutes.
